Account Tree’s 5 Steps to Building Better Software Step 1 - Listen

Writer: Thomas RossiThomas Rossi

A person with black hair adjusts a blindfold over their eyes, wearing a plain shirt. he is listening.
We Listen.

We’ve learned that the most powerful tool we have is listening. It’s not just about us building software for you—it’s about us building it with you, using your feedback, your knowledge, and your experiences as the foundation. It makes sense that better solutions would come from the people who actually do work and experience the challenges firsthand.

So, how do we build better software? We listen. When we started Account Tree, our goal was clear: create a solution for managing student activity funds that’s simple, transparent, and truly meets the needs of those who use it. But we knew we couldn’t do that without understanding the real-world challenges schools were facing.

That’s why we spent time talking to administrators, club advisors, parents, and students—getting their input, learning what frustrated them, and understanding the nuances of managing funds in a school district. We didn’t come to them with pre-formed ideas about what the software should be; instead, we listened to the problems they were dealing with. And from this feedback-driven approach, we built the solution.

Listening doesn’t stop after launch—it’s a continuous process. The foundation of Account Tree is built on the feedback and ideas that have come from our users. We are not interested in simply building software; our mission was to build solutions to problems. This drives our continuous cycle of listening, building, and evolving alongside the needs of our customers.

The best software isn’t built in a vacuum—it’s built in partnership. When you’re using software every day, you know what works and what doesn’t. We value your insights because you are the ones experiencing the challenges firsthand. That’s why listening is so important.

At Account Tree, we know that building better software doesn’t just mean writing code—it means actively listening, learning from real feedback, and adapting based on the experiences of our users. This isn’t just a one-time effort—collaborating is an ongoing process that ensures we’re always improving and refining the platform to better serve you.

We never stop listening - please keep sharing your ideas and asking us questions! We’re committed to listening to you every step of the way. As we continue to grow and improve, we’ll keep evolving based on your needs. Because the best solutions come from understanding the problems you face and working together to build something better.

At Account Tree, we’re not just building software—we’re building it with you.
